Once I looked at the moon
Thinking it was a floating cake
Or maybe a lost balloon
I wish it to be a cake I could make
Four years ago, a sunny September
A field trip to the south with a friend
A petite Hongkongnese girl to remember
My first mooncake, such a taste to befriend
At Meimart*, last week,
I grabbed some mooncakes,
of different flavors
Moon Festival, Moon goddess,
grant me a blessing
As a striver to harvest,
this is one of an endeavor
Eating mooncake, a reward to me,
coz work is really stressing
After eating mooncake, a plot
In a ‘what if’ silly daily life scene
A neighbor who plays lottery a lot
Comes to me asking the missing number on the cake I have eaten.
‘It’s in in my stomach! ‘ I replied in an unapologetic way.
I giggled.
Oh, what a scene.
*Meimart = one of the biggest Chinese grocery store in Dili.
